After 18 weeks of the Apprentice Africa, Isaac Kwabena Dankyi-Koranteng one of Ghana's representatives to the business reality series was the one to hear the renowned catchphrase “You are hired” from the CEO, Biodun Shobanjo. Isaac beat the eloquent and clever US-based Nigerian born Eunice Omole for the enviable prize package including a $200,000 annual salary job at Bank PHB and a luxurious car.
30 year old Isaac is married with one child and he believes that he personifies responsibility and dignity. Very unassuming and calculated, he entered the Apprentice Africa House like a business gladiator, casting very watchful “African eyes” on his fellow contestants, listening more and speaking less. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Publishing Studies from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana, and an MBA from Wuham University, China. His core values to success are professionalism; integrity, honour, and passion were evident throughout the competition.
The grand finale was held at a 500-seater auditorium in Lagos and all 18 contestants were present for the declaration of the ultimate winners. The two finalists faced the CEO one final time to defend themselves and prove why they each deserved to win.The C.E.O went ahead to describe the performance and character traits of the finalists, observing that Isaac was soft-spoken as well as careful with words and actions, while Eunice was outgoing, vivacious, and very blunt, just like himself. Mr Shobanjo then allowed some comments from the eliminated contestants; and most of them were in favour of Isaac.
It wasn't long before the accusations and counteraccusations started. Isaac labelled Eunice as indecisive, while Eunice accused Isaac of having excelled during tasks based on a skilful exploitation of his team mates' input. Eunice quickly dismissed Isaac's victories as PM as questionable, in the sense that she believed that he couldn't have secured those victories without people like herself, Kathleen and Tunde on his team. Isaac accused Eunice of having very low moral standards, and no integrity, saying that he lost respect for Eunice when she tried to condone cheating and foul play during a task - citing Tunde as his witness. “Sir, I believe your apprentice should be a person of integrity…because he who is faithful in smaller things will be faithful in bigger things…”
In the end only the verdict of Mr Shobanjo mattered. “I've watched the 2 of you very closely, and I've seen how you have all performed and considering the fact that the Apprentice I'm seeking to hire must possess a combination of intelligence, street smartness, character, and integrity. When I look at the combination of all the values that I'm looking for in an Apprentice that I could one day hand over a company to, I've come to the conclusion that Isaac you're hired”.
Isaac has since returned to Ghana, where he was received at the airport by a huge crowd of admirers. He has paid a courtesy call to the Ghanaian Minister of Information, with a team from Bank PHB. In a press conference, Isaac told press men about his intention to help train enterprising Ghanaian youths from the various universities in Ghana.
