Nigerian musician Iyanya has responded to actress Yvonne Nelson’s claims that he cheated on her during their relationship.
In her recent memoir “I Am Not Yvonne Nelson,” the actress accused Iyanya of cheating on her with fellow Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh.
She wrote that she was initially charmed by Iyanya, saying, “We had a decent relationship. Breakfast in bed and all the niceties of a dream relationship one could think of. I had the assurance that he was someone I could be with forever. He tattooed my initials, YN, on his wrist, and I thought that was a big deal.”
However, she was later informed by someone that anytime she left Iyanya’s place, Donto Dikeh would come over and sometimes sleep over.
“That actress turned out to be Tonto Dikeh of Nigeria, one of the female celebrities Iyanya named in his ‘Ur Waist’ song,” Nelson wrote.
After confronting Iyanya and Dikeh about the issue on Twitter, Yvonne concluded that “what happened between [Iyanya] and Tonto Dikeh wasn't an isolated incident. It was a pattern, his way of life.”
In response, Iyanya’s noted that while he will address Yvonne Nelson’s claims at some point, he will not do so by writing an entire book like she did.
His current focus, he said is on promoting his new music video “Love & Trust” featuring Nigerian singer Joeboy.
Iyanya tweeted on Monday, June 19: “So Yvonne Nelson said I cheated on her with Tonto Dike? Oh wow. I’ll respond to this later. I no go write book, but....For now make I go watch my new video Director just send me now. Love & Trust Ft Joeboy.”
