Cindy Thompson After waiting for four years, top gospel musician Cindy Thompson is ready with her third album but her fans and music lovers will have to wait till the end of June for it's release.Titled “Calvary Nyankopon”, the album will contain 14 songs to make up for the long delay which Cindy says is deliberate.“I wanted to come out with something very good so I had to take my time and work and of course with the help of the Lord whose inspiration I needed to complete the album”.Cindy Thompson first hit the gospel scene with a bang in 1998 with her first album “Onakwafo Nyame” which pushed her into the limelight. Her second album “Cindy's Messiah” two years later picked three awards at the Ghana Music Awards 2000 for Gospel Song of the Year, Gospel Album of the Year and Best Female Vocal Performance of the Year. The same album picked another three awards at the Ghana Gospel Music Awards covering the period 2000 – 2002, Gospel Song of the Year, Gospel Album of the Year and Best Praise Song.Cindy was propelled onto the international stage with the same album when she appeared at the International Gospel and Roots Festival held at Benin in 2003.Earlier, she had won an award as the Most Outstanding Artiste of the Year by OXY Promotion. It is no secret that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) rode on the power of her song 'Ewurade Kasa' in their campaign to victory. Her upcoming album after the long wait is likely to push Cindy into the limelight again especially after its launch in August at a special concert that will involve a few other gospel musicians. Will “Calvary Nyankopon” also become an award winning album? Let's keep our fingers crossed.
