Gospel musician, Nii Okai says he has never gone hungry after he left his job with a bank to do God’s work.

The award-winning contemporary gospel singer revealed in an interview with Lexis Bill on Joy FM that, he emptied his bank accounts to pay off a loan after he resigned from Standard Charted Bank.

According to him, he paid the loan because he wanted to completely forget about his old life.

He admitted that after taking such a bold step, he saw his account at a very low level for the first time in his life.

“I remember paying off a loan and seeing my account go 'red' for the first time. I felt like paying that loan off and starting from 'ground zero'. Since then, I have seen the goodness of the Lord month after month. I never went hungry because I knew the Lord will never forsake me,” Nii Okai said.

The ‘Moko Bε' hit singer acknowledged the support of his wife during the hard times he went through after he quit his job.

The gospel musician, who launched his campaign to offer free surgeries for 40 heart patients across the country, also revealed his lowest moment as a Gospel musician.

He said he feels saddened when others act mean towards him when they had to pay honorarium after his performance at events.

“It's not always about the money [but] because of a small cheque, some people can just say things to you and bash you with the pulpit. It's not always about the money but God takes care of his own,” he said.
