Popular actor and comedian, Adu Kofi, popularly known as Agya Koo, says the death of his colleague, Bishop Bob Okala and Nkomode is a wake-up call to comedians in Ghana to strengthen their bond with their maker.

He said the way and manner the two great comedians died is worrying and that it was about time his colleague comedians learnt lessons from them and built a strong relationship with God so that even if they die they can have eternal lives.

Speaking on Adom Entertainment Hall, Agya Koo questioned whether it was destined for such calamity to befall the comedy industry and added the death of the two comedy giants is a big blow to the industry.

He told the host of the programme, Mike Two that he noticed Bob Okala was very ill when they met to prepare for Ghana’s 59th Independence Day celebration.

Bob Okala, together with Agya Koo and others, paraded as veteran soldiers at the event.

According to him, Okala had an uneven breath as they marched past President John Drama Mahama.

“He had earlier told me that he had been ill for some time now and I could see it written all over his face,” he said.

Agya Koo further stated that he even approached Bob Okala to find out from him whether he was fit enough for the event but the comedian assured him that he was well and will be able to go through the drill.

He added that he least expected that Okala will pass on exactly a week after the event.

Agya Koo described the late Bishop Bob Okala and Nkomode as the two out of three most popular comedians apart from him who fought to see the comedy industry grow.

He also bemoaned the nonexistence of welfare and pension schemes for comedians in Ghana.
