Nkawie (Ash), July 17, GNA- The Atwima District Education Directorate came first in drum language and poetry recital in this year's second-cycle institutions inter-district cultural festival competition held at the Kumasi Cultural Centre on Wednesday. It also placed second in art and craft exhibition, dance drama, drumming and dancing after Kumasi Metropolitan Education Directorate, while Amansie West came third followed by Ahafo-Ano South and Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma Districts.
Mr Ibrahim Mohammed, District Cultural Officer at Atwima District Education Office, presented shields and certificates to the winners. Mr Obeng-Darko commended the participants for bringing honour to the district and urged them to continue to improve upon their performance to win more laurels for the district.
He stressed that indiscipline and other social vices among the youth can adequately be addressed, if much attention is paid to the promotion and development of the country's rich cultural practices.
