Ghana's high life sensation Kofi Boakye Yiadom, aka Kofi B, who was attacked by thugs recently in Accra, has announced that all is set for the release of his latest album by the end of this month.
Kofi B's fame in Ghana's music industry is common to the ordinary Ghanaian; however, his latest album entitled 'Odo Nyemra' featuring Sarkodie is a presentation of great lyrical contents.
Though all the seven tracks are not so different from the usual contemporary highlife composition of his type of music, the general orchestration, instrumentation and lyrical delivery are quite interesting. The album spews out a brilliant presentation, with Kofi B exhibiting his unique lyrical prowess.
The release of Kofi B's latest album, according to him, would boost the image of contemporary high life music in Ghana and beyond.
Although highlife music has been suffering over the years due to the rapid growth of hiplife and raglife music in Ghana, some staunch highlife musicians like Kofi B are strong in their resolve to sustain the good old traditional music.
Kofi B, whose main aim is to reach the top of the ladder and also make it onto the international music market told BEATWAVES, 'I am still working tirelessly on the album which has all the stuff to meet the demand of music lovers'.
He declared that he does not believe in coming out with just any album, saying it is important for the songs to make a dent on the mind of every music lover as soon as it hits the market.
Kofi B's album, which has eight danceable tracks with a unique mix of neatly arranged lyrics with sensational and inspirational rhythms, glamorous video, would be released by the end of this month.
Kofi's latest album has distinctive features in terms of arrangement, beat and style; a new dimension in our current highlife music dispensation.
The album is full of catchy, easy to sing along with tunes with immense commercial potential.
It is set to create stiff competition for established artistes, particularly those in the highlife music field and pre-release comments on the album from a section of music fans are mind-blowing.
Kofi B is a modern day highlife musician who stays true to the rudiments of the genre. He literally jumped into the spotlight from nowhere with his solemn and thought provoking hit song, 'Mmobrowa' some years back.
He has some Ghana Music Award wins and nominations to his credit. He is currently working on new material and is set release another album soon.
Some of his popular songs include 'Twa me keke', 'Mmobrowa', 'Aserewa', 'Koforidua Flowers', 'Sika dwa', 'Belinda', 'Akua Ataa'.
