THE challenge for the emcees of the Next Big Thing competition this week was to tell a story through rap -the story needed to have an introduction, body and a climax. What a challenge that was!

The Judges were psyched up for an exhilarating night and by all standards the young rappers delivered that and more. Jojo was the first emcee to the live stage, he told an elaborate story on the ills of womanizing. The Judges were not particularly impressed; they suggested that although he had a good storyline, he lacked energy on stage.

Selorm followed with a story on peer pressure and teenage pregnancy. The Judges were impressed with his story and performance, especially how he made the audience feel a part of the performance.

Nate-Pro was next with his story on Facebook girl, which sounded much like D-Black's Vera. The Judges said it was interesting though the rap lacked rhyming and originality.

Magnificent, stole the show with his story on the triumphs of a young woman born into abject poverty. The Judges were wowed with both his story and the delivery of it. Tee-Phlow's story on the traveler's woesgot him an instant standing ovation from the audience. The performance was particularly emotional for Judge OKyeame Kwame who shed a few tears. Okyeame said the performance was 'swagnificent', creative, and had good punch lines.

E.D.N.A the only female emcee in the competition took to the stage and told a story of a black girl trying to make a difference in the entertainment industry. The Judges were impressed and gave her thumps up for great timing.

Leety told a story on racism and the Judges said he failed to hit the mark with his story while Bebelino's story was a self portrait on why he decided to share his talent on NBT. The Judges commented that his chorus lacked originality although they were glad hedecided to share his talent on the competition.

Blark told a story on the advantages of taking education seriously even if one wants to be a rapper. The Judges liked the moral of the story. Who said one needs to be a professional commentator before commenting on a match? Strongman's story was on a football match between Real Madrid and Barcelona – in his rap. It was well told and well commentated much to the delight of the Judges.
