A 28-year-old man drowned and died on Saturday at a pool party organized for hip-life musician Nana Kwaku Duah, popularly known as Tic Tac, at Rojo Hotel in Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region.

The deceased, whose identity was yet to be disclosed, was believed to have drowned because he was either intoxicated or did not know how to swim. He was reported to have died around 8:00 p.m. before his arrival at the Holy Family Hospital.

According to a devastated Tic Tac, who confirmed the incident to Myjoyonline.com, he started performing around 7:00 p.m. and midway through the performance, he saw people rushing to the scene of the incident.

Tic Tac, who was experiencing such a tragedy for the first time since he started his music career in 1999, said the surprising bit of the accident was that 'everyone got out of the pool to see [my] performance,' and was shocked how the man got drowned.

He advised the general public to 'just take it easy and always keep their calm,' whenever they attended such events.

Tic Tac, who is also the Greater Accra regional Chairman of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), added that, 'last but not least, try not to get drunk if you know you will be swimming. If you don't know how to swim, please stay away from the pool side.'

Tic Tac was expected to visit the family of the deceased on Monday before returning to Accra.
