The first edition of Hip hop Expo, a show tagged to unearth talents in the hip hop industry took place at the Silver Star Tower on Saturday.
The much publicised show failed to live up to expectation due to low patronage.
To compound the problems, the main artistes Asem and Ezzy all of Lynx Entertainment failed to turn up over contractual differences and payments.
Hip Hop Expo is organised by Urban Marketing which has its headquarters in Las Vegas, United States. It was to unearth rap talents to promote Ghanaian hip hop to the world.
Ten best rappers from the event which was in a form of a competition were to be chosen from the event to perform in Las Vegas at a later date.
The few fans who turned up were hugely disappointed with what appeared to be a poorly organised event, and the absence of the two artistes did not help matters.
There were allegations that the two were given half payment before the show to perform but later demanded the rest of the money before they will perform.
A source close to the organisers told Myjoyonline.com that Asem requested Gh C4, 000 while Ezzy requested Gh C2, 000. The source added that, Asem was given an advance payment of Gh C2,000 and Ezzy, Gh C1,000 but they all demanded full payment before they will perform.
Reacting to the allegations, Albert, the manager of Lynx Entertainment in an interview with Myjoyonline.com refuted the allegations and blamed the organisers for failing to fullfil their part of the deal.
“Not all aspects of the agreement was fulfilled by the organisers that is why Asem and Ezzy didn't show up at the event. We are yet to hold discussions with the organisers. Apart from that, no comment,” he said.
Underground rappers Buda, Box, Kazuka, Budi and Raquel were a few of the artistes who performed at the event.
