Accra, May 20, GNA- Parliament would take a decision on the CNT loan in June when the House reconvenes, the Speaker, Mr Peter Ala Adjetey said on Thursday.
Mr. Kofi Attor, NDC-Ho Central had questioned why the CNT loan was not captured on the Order Paper for discussion when the House reconvened to extend the State of Emergency in the Tamale Municipality and the Yendi District on Thursday.
The Speake Mr. Peter Ala Adjetey said he shared the concerns of the member but the issue would be dealt with when the House resumes. The 300-million dollars loan, which was approved by Parliament on April 13, this year, has generated a lot of public debate.
The agreement is between the government and a Chinese company, CNT Group Holdings Limited and the CNT Construction Investment Limited, a construction and investment financing company in the United Kingdom. The credit covers the rehabilitation of the Eastern Rail Line, road works involving the upgrading of the Achimota-Kumasi road, PSI's Garment Village and the establishment of six cassava starch companies.
