Ghana striker Matthew Amoah has reacted angrily to fans' assertions that he failed to live up to expectation during the Angola 2010 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

The Holland-based striker descended heavily on soccer fans in the country, describing them as ungrateful.

“Ghanaians are ungrateful,” he said in a radio interview, adding, “So Ghanaians did not see all my good works for the country.”

Despite sounding peeved, Amoah who has been at the receiving end of Ghanaian fans' flak lately, emphatically stated he was not bothered by what people were saying.

Commenting on his performance during the tournament, in which Ghana finished as runners up, he explained that the coach assigned a special role for him.

Amoah, who failed to find the net during the tourney, noted, “I played as a striker and a midfielder at the same time just as the coach had assigned me.”
