Odeneho Gyapong Ababio, Omanhene of Sefwi-Bekwai Traditional Area in Western Region, has advised the people to forge ahead in unity to ensure accelerated development of the area.
He noted that the development of the area depended on their collective efforts to initiate more developmental projects to enhance their living standards.
Odeneho Gyapong Ababio gave the advice during the celebration of their annual Yam Festival at Sefwi-Bekwai at the weekend.
The occasion is used by the people to ensure re-union and deliberate on issues to ensure accelerated development of the area.
He stressed the need for them to avoid negative tendencies including back-biting, rumour mongering, gossiping, conflicts and other vices that would retard development in the area.
Odeneho Gyapong Ababio announced that the traditional council had embarked on the construction of a modern palace and appealed to the people to support the project financially.
He urged them not to allow politics to divide them but think about the efforts to improve their living standards.
Odeneho Gyapong Ababio emphasised the importance of education in socio-economic development of any country and advised parents to give quality education to their children to become useful citizens in future.
He called on the youth to desist from social vices like drug abuse, gambling, alcoholism, teenage pregnancy and participate in the development of their communities.
