In 2015, Louis Gossett Jr. sat down with ABC News to discuss his new project at the time, a miniseries based on a novel about slavery. He shared how the battles of racism and ageism in Hollywood are changing in modern culture.

Gossett Jr. was the first Black man to win a supporting actor Oscar and was also an Emmy winner for his role in the seminal TV miniseries, “Roots.” He died at age 87.
