Head coach of the Black Stars, Kwesi Appiah has reiterated that he is unpredictable with regards to the invitation of players to the national team and many football fans will be left in shock again with his latest call-up.
Kwesi Appiah is yet to release a list of 23 players ahead of the 2019 AFCON qualifier against Kenya.
There have been reports that Asamoah Gyan and the Ayew brothers have been dropped in his latest call-up ahead of the qualifiers but insists when the list is finally released the names would surprise many.
Although the 58-year-old would not drop any hints about the kind of players that would get the nod this time around, he admitted that some new faces would be introduced.
“My team is actually secret because I believe no media man can name my team now, I’ve got a whole lot of players to pick from so let all keep our fingers crossed, there would be one or two new players but not many”, he stated.
However, Kwesi Appiah refuted speculations that Inter Milan midfielder, Kwadwo Asamoah, had been handed the captain’s band but stated that he could be part of the team.
“He is a Ghanaian and he could be part of the team but it depends on whether we need him now” Coach Appiah answered to whether the Ghanaian midfielder who has been out of the team in the last four years would be in the team this time around, and pleaded not to pre-empt the final list until it comes out on Wednesday after his meeting with management on Tuesday.
He also emphatically said that no local player would have a chance in his new squad because of the absence of the local league, “as you know there is nothing going on in Ghana at the moment so the concentration would be out there” the coach hinted.
