Hearts sign new contract with Dan Quaye

Accra, July 6, GNA - The Management of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club and their belligerent defender, Dan Quaye on Tuesday signed a new three-year contract, ending speculations that the player was on his way to arch rivals, Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
The Management said that the new development was arrived at after the player apologized unreservedly to the Club and its teeming supporters for his acts of indiscretion which sort to tarnish the image and reputation of the club.
According to a statement signed by Mr Ashford Tettey Oku, Administrative Manager of the defending champions copied to the GNA Sports Desk, the management has therefore lifted the six months suspension imposed on the player with immediate effect as a result of the new development.
The contractual scuffle between the player and the Club, brought about a six months' ban, when the management of Hearts accused Quaye of going on air in Kumasi to twist facts pertaining to his contract 'with the aim of tarnishing the image of the club' and facilitating his movement to Asante Kotoko.
The Phobians, not happy with the utterances of the player slapped a six months' ban on him for breach of contract.
Hearts, during the period that Quaye was under the ban turned down a request for the release of the player to Asante Kotoko, claiming that the player was still under contract and they would therefore not negotiate his release.
Kotoko's decision to request negotiations on the player's release was after Quaye wrote to Hearts requesting his release since his contract with Hearts expired on March 1 this year.
It said that the Club and player believe this new development will end weeks of speculation, accusations and counter accusations with respect to the player's future with the club.
Quaye joined Hearts of Oak from Accra Great Olympics in 1999 after featuring for the Black Starlets side that placed second in the World Under-17 tournament in Egypt.
Dan Quaye during his stay with Hearts played an instrumental role towards the win of the CAF Champions League trophy in 2000 and the CAF Confederation Cup in 2005 by the Club.
He won six league and two FA Cup trophies during his period with Accra Hearts of Oak.
