Sowah was earmarked to get more game time following the injury to Alexandru Chipciu.
Anderlecht head coach René Weiler decided the start the youngster ahead of Massimo Bruno and Diego Capel.
Sowah was substituted by Bruno in the 82nd minute as the coach looks to Sunday's league match against Club Brugge.
