King Solomon FC fined GH¢10,000 and handed five-match home ban for attacks on referee

King Solomon FC have been fined GH¢10,000 and handed a five-match home ban for the violent attacks on referee Sampson Azumah in May during a Division One League match.

A section of the club's supporters went berserk and attacked the referee after their 1-0 defeat to Great Olympics at home.

They beat up the referee who sustained a head injury and had to be rushed to the hospital where he received stitches in his head.

That the Committee having satisfied itself that the evidence adduced before it supports the

charges of misconduct and violence against the club and the nature of the injuries caused.

King Solomon must pay the fine within fourteen (14) days upon receipt of this Ruling, failing which King Solomon FC shall automatically forfeit all subsequent matches after the said deadline in accordance with Article 15(b) of the GFA Disciplinary Code and Article 39(8) (b), 39(8) (d) and 39(8) (f) of the First Amendment to the GFA General Regulations.

The Disciplinary Committee considered that this is not the first time King Solomon FC have failed to control their supporters at their home ground.

The Ghana FA will compensate referee Azumah with GH¢ 3,000 from the and also pay GH¢ 1,000 each of the fine to assistant referees Ishmael Acquah and K. Abora Abora and reserve referee Eric Ekow Appiah.
