Final funeral rites are underway near Usher Fort, in Accra for legendary Ghanaian boxing trainer Godwin Nii Dzanie Kotey a.k.a. Alloway, who passed on some weeks ago.

Headlining the activities will be a 14-bout bill to be staged in the historic boxing communinity of Bukom near his residence in Accra later this evening.

Coach Alloway will be buried in Accra tomorrow after a service at the Usher Gardens off the John Atta-Mills High Street, Accra. The funeral is expected to be attended by thousands of people of varied backgrounds.

Alloway gave up after a month's battle with illness in Accra - a development which was received with shock in the sporting fraternity.

Alloway previously handled some of the creme boxers from Ghana including Prof. Azumah Nelson, Joshua Clottey and Joseph Agbeko

Coach Alloway, who was 56, has a wealth of experience in the sport with almost four decades of work and served as the Head Trainer for the Attoh Quarshie Gym in Accra where he trained many boxers including highly rated lightweight George 'Red Tiger' Ashie.

Godwin Nii Dzanie Kotey led the boxing coaches body to push for major reforms in the sport and also led a lot of advocacy including issues.
