Accra, Nov. 30, GNA - The first Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited Open Golf Championship tees off at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday, December 4.
About 100 amateur golfers drawn from the five Greater Accra Regional golf clubs are expected to participate in the one-day 18-Hole Stableford competition.
The competition Secretary of the Achimota Golf Club, Mr Michael Aggrey said the competition shall be played under the rules of the World's golf governing body and the local rules of the Achimota Golf Club and has at stake many attractive prizes.
Meanwhile, Achimota Golf Club of Ghana defeated Ikoyi Golf Club 1938 of Nigeria by 35 and a half points to 33 and a half points in their international tournament played at the Achimota Golf Course on Sunday. Mr Samuel Adetola, Captain of the Achimota Golf Club said the event was aimed at strengthening the already existing relationship between the two countries.
He said the two clubs have instituted a competition for the events to be played as part of the celebrations to mark the independence days of the two countries with effect from 2005 next year.
