He has subsequently announced Kasper Hjulmand as the club's new coach as part of the new direction of developing quality talents.
The appointment Dane will take effect from January 1, 2016.
"Kasper is one of the best coaches I've met, and he is a skilled talent developer," Vernon said of his new appointment.
"His results speak for themselves, and Kasper will be someone important in creating results both in the short term but also in the long term.
Kasper Hjulmand left Nordsjælland in 2014 after six years at the club, first as First Team Coach and later Head Coach, and has now been returned to the club's dugout.
"I am convinced that this is a unique project, which will mean a huge amount for the whole of the North Zealand region," he said on his return to the club.
"We need to give talented young people a chance to live their dreams. The club has always had a clear philosophy and belief in talent and FCN has one of the best academies in Scandinavia.
"It's exciting for me to be able to help many of these talented young players further into the first team.
"It is also interesting to return to the club, which has meant a lot to me and I can not wait to have to start training again with the boys in January."
