
Accra, Nov 7, GNA - The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) an SIC Insurance Company Limited will on Friday, November 20, launch the 2015 SIC Nyemitei SWAG Cup match, at the premises of the Insurance Company in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
The grand launch is expected to be attended by high profile personalities in the region, including the Regional Minister, the Metropolitan Chief Executive, the Regional Police Commander among others.
It will also be attended by senior management officials of SIC led by its Ag. Managing Director Mr. Kwei Mensah Ashidam and members of the Executive Committee of SWAG.
The match christened "SIC Nyemitei SWAG Cup" is one of the Corporate Social Responsibilities of SIC Insurance Company who has affirmed their position to play a role in sports development in the country.
It is also aimed at honouring the memory of the grey-haired 'Soccer Philosopher' the late Henry Plange Nyemitei, former Managing Director of SIC, a patron of SWAG and an astute sports administrator.
A statement from the secretariat of SWAG said, the grand launch will also be used to unveil the newly acquired giant trophy for the match as well as provide the public with details on the match and whip up the enthusiasm of football fans in a bid to attract more fans to the stands.
It added that, the launch will be attended by players, coaches and administrators of the two clubs.
The SIC Nyemitei SWAG Cup match will be played on Sunday, November 29, at the Baba Yara Stadium between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Ashantigold.
SWAG last week officially announced the match at a media briefing in Accra.
