Accra, Sept. 26, (GNA) - Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club have been pitched to meet Kumasi King Faisal in the annual Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Cup match on Thursday, September 30 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Hearts replaces Kumasi Asante Kotoko who were originally scheduled to meet Faisal but have been unable to honour the match in view of their congested features and SWAG has therefore agreed that Hearts take over accordingly.
Mr Ebo Quansah, President of SWAG told the GNA Sports that the replacement is to enable SWAG fulfil its programme and prepare for its annual awards night in October.
He said the Nyamitei Challenge Cup would be at stake with the State Insurance Company, sponsors of the event presenting an attractive package including a 500 million cedi insurance cover for the two participating teams.
Additionally, SIC has presented new glittering trophy to replace the old one won for keeps by Kotoko.
Mr H.P. Nyametei was the Board Chairman and Chief Patron of Accra Hearts of Oak, Chief Patron of SWAG and Chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
The SWAG special awards night which honours outstanding sports personalities will see 17 sports men and women receiving awards while special awards will be given to other individuals and corporate bodies.
