AshantiGold's Fatau Dauda will be handed a belated award for emerging the Goalkeeper of the Year in the 2012/13 Premier League season on Tuesday.
The Ghana FA has written to notify the Black Stars goalkeeper of a ceremony to hand him the award which originally should have been given two seasons ago.
“The Ghana Football Association extends its warm compliments and has the pleasure to inform you that awarded were instituted to deserving personalities during the 2012/13 Glo Premier League which were not presented to the award winners,” a letter addressed to Fatau Dauda and signed by the GFA's Acting General Secretary Emmanuel Gyimah read.
“We are pleased to inform you that during the season under review you were selected as the Goalkeeper of the Year.
“In view of the above, the Football Association will organize a simple ceremony at the Board Room of the GFA on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 10:00am to present you with the award.”
Dauda's impressive exploits for AshGold in that season earned him regular call ups to the Black Stars and eventually became the first choice at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
