Hearts of Oak striker Gilbert Fiamenyo has been become the first recipient of the newly introduced First Capital Plus Bank player of the month in the Ghana Premier League for January
Fiamenyo was first to score a goal in the league this season when his strike proved decisive for the Phobians against WAFA on match day one.
But the 22 year old did not stop there, going on to score four more goals to extend his leading tally to five goals in four games in the first month of the league. - the first player to win the award since its instutution.
The striker was handed a for GH¢500 (Five hundred Ghana Cedis) as his prize by the league's sponsors, First Capital Plus Bank after last Saturday's Super Clash in Kumasi when Hearts surprised Kotoko with a lone goal victory..
'I am feeling very good and happy. It is not easy to score a goal in our league or even in a match, but I try to do my best and I am very happy the goals are flowing,' Gilbert Fiamenyo told Hearts of Oak's official website.
'My biggest gratitude goes to my family because I wouldn't be where I am without them. They supported me during
my toughest time especially when I was not scoring in the Top 4," he pointed out.
"A lot of people were complaining I could not score in the Top 4 but my family encouraged me to keep giving of my best and that I should not lose hope because everything would be okay," Fiamenyo explained.
He added: 'Also, my fans kept on with their support for me and so I want to dedicate my goals to my family and
