Never say never: Stephen Appiah not retiring from active football yet

Stephen Appiah has been answering questions yet again about whether or not his playing career is over but the former Black Stars skipper is defiant and not quitting.

Appiah has not played for two years since leaving Serbian side, Vojvodina at the of the 2011/12 season and even after working on the backroom staff for the Black Stars at the recent Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup, Appiah is not giving up on returning to active football yet again.

'I haven't announced my retirement yet and since this is football, you never say never,' Appiah told Joy FM on Tuesday morning.

The man who led Ghana to qualify for a first ever World Cup appearance in Germany 2006 before repeating the feat again in 2010, previously featured for among them Juventus, Udinese, Parma and Brescia in Serie A before stints at Fenerbahce in Turkey and Cesena back in Italy.

A playmaker with an outstanding eye for goal, Appiah also scored in his last competitive game to date when equalisng for Vojvodina on their way to a 2-1 win over Crvena Zvezda in the concluding fixture of the 2011/12 Serbia Super Liga season.

'Anything can happen and even though I have been asked this question several times, I am still training and as you can see I'm still fit and strong and we will see,' Stephen Appiah said.
