Turf war among OSP, A-G and EOCO undermines graft fight– Sulemana Braimah

Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), Sulemana Braimah, has raised concerns over what he describes as turf wars among the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), the Attorney-General’s Department and the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).

Mr Braimah said the apparent disagreements among the institutions were worrying and raised questions about whether their actions were being guided solely by the national interest.

“The turf wars going on among the AG, OSP, and EOCO make us question if these institutions set up by the country and being funded by the country also have personal interests or their interest is that of the country,” he said while speaking on Newsfile.

He argued that the institutions should focus on collaboration rather than institutional differences to ensure that corruption cases are effectively investigated and prosecuted.

“That is why I am saying that there should be collaboration between them,” he stated.

Mr Braimah particularly appealed to the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, and the Attorney-General’s Department to find common ground and work together in the interest of the country.

He said greater cooperation among the institutions would help prevent disagreements from undermining the broader fight against corruption.

“I would advise my brother Kissi Agyebeng and, of course, the AG’s department to see how, in the interest of the country, they can come together and build bridges so that we can pursue cases that are going to yield results,” he said.
