German legend Franz Beckenbauer is bullish over the chances of his country at the 2014 World Cup, insisting Ghana will pose no significant threat to their progress in Brazil.
The three time winners are considered to be in one of the toughest groups at the upcoming finals having been drawn against Ghana, Portugal and USA in Group G.
Many pundits however consider Joachim Low's side as the firm favourites to win the group and even go on as real favourites to win the tournament which kicks off on June 12.
Franz Beckenbauer who won the World Cup as a player and as a coach for Germany is backing his country to bulldoze their way through Group G with cheeky ease with no regard to the threats posed by all the group opponents including the Black Stars.
“Let's take a look at the group that contains Germany, USA, Ghana and Portugal. The group is not especially strong and not especially weak,” he said.
“Most groups are mixed rather well, with an exception: The group with Italy, England and Uruguay.
“The US team develops constantly, have good players, but not strongly enough to endanger Germany.
“In the same roll I see Ghana. And Portugal exists to me too much of Cristiano Ronaldo. Germany will take this group.”
The German's were slim 1-0 winners when they last played Ghana at the World Cup four years ago in South Africa.
There is however a subtle growing believe that the Black Stars will be able to pull up a surprise by beating the European powerhouse when they face off in the second Group G game on June 21 in Fortaleza.
