Former top flight side, Okwahu United were among four teams to claim victories and qualification to the last 16 after a host of round of 32 ties honoured across the country today in the 2013/14 MTN FA Cup. Feyenoord Academy and Mighty Jets were other former top league sides to also go through on Saturday.
Okwahu stormed the Sampa Park to defeat Sampa United 3-2, Feyenoord were also winners on the road after eliminating fellow Division One League side, Red Lions 1-0 at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi, same as Tudu Mighty Jets who travelled all the way to the Bolga Park to pip Bolga All Stars 1-0.
The 4 th winners on Saturday afternoon were Metro SC who defeated Tema United 2-1 at the Essipong Stadium in a match that was shown live on Supersportto viewers across the continent of Africa and even beyond.
Okwahu, Feyenoord, Mighty Jets and Metro SC add up to Asante Kotoko, defending champs Medeama, Berekum Chelsea and Istanbul FC to bring to 8 the number of teams already through to Thursday February 13's draw for the round of 16 at the GFA offices in Accra.
6 more qualifiers are expected to join the last 16 line up after a number of ties all over the country tomorrow. Top flight high fliers, Ashantigold host Accra based Division One League side, Danbort FC at the Len Clay Stadium, Bechem United host Dolphines FC whilst Sekondi Hasaacas host Liberty Professionals in the only all Premier League clash.
Elsewhere, two of the past three winners, Nania FC and New Edubiase are both away to Inter Allies and Tarkwa Real United respectively with Hearts of Oak conquerors, Gold Stars concluding the Sunday fixture list against Kotoku Royals FC at their favourite Bibiani Park.
Meanwhile, King Faisal Babe still wait on a date to be confirmed for their last 32 tie away to Rospack FC, Right to Dream or Ho Dynamos, same as Aduana Stars or Asokwa Deportivo or Dunkwa United vrs Dawhenya FC or Royal Faith or Bazooka.
