
Ghana's Youth Olympic hopeful, Abraham Ayittey repeated his success chalked last month at the Morocco Junior International by winning another Gold medal in the Men's singles event at the just ended Botswana Junior International Badminton Tournament held in the city of Lobatse from 6-9 December, 2013.
The tournament is a Badminton World Federation (BWF) and Badminton Confederation of Africa (BCA) sanctioned event to rank players and also serve as one of the four continental qualifiers towards next year's Youth Olympic Games to be held in Nanjing, China.
The pair of Daniel Sam and Emmanuel Donkor also bagged a Bronze Medal in the Men's Doubles event in the Seniors tourney held simultaneously in Lobatse, Botswana. Sam, a BWF/BCA ”Road to Rio” candidate hopes to improve significantly in the world rankings to earn the required points to qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
The 5-Man contingent was led by Mr. Nestor Galley, President of Badminton Ghana with J.E Wilson as the team Coach. They are expected to travel to South Africa to participate in the South Africa International Badminton Tournament scheduled for Pretoria from 12-15 December, 2013.
