Midfielder Michael Akuffo will welcome his new role as captain of Asante Kotoko.
The combative midfielder led the side to retain their Super Cup title with a 3-0 thrashing of Medeama last Sunday.
Akuffo took over the captain's armband due to the absence of substantive Abdoulaye Soulama who was on international duty with Burkina Faso.
His inspired performance on the day has fuelled talks making him the substantive captain of the side.
The local Black Stars midfielder says he will welcome the new leadership role if he is made the team's substantive captain.
“I will receive it [captain armband] because this is a team that I really love and on my heart,” he told Metro FM.
“So it will be a honour I will receive with both hands if given the opportunity.”
