Laurent Agouazi has been convened to the Algerian team.
This is the first time that the midfielder of Stade Malherbe of Caen, will wear the green tunic of Algeria. The Desert Foxes are on probation since May 24. They prepare to face Benin and Rwanda in the qualifiers of the 2014 World Cup on 9 and 16 June.
Asked about these two meetings, Agouazi who was surprised by the call, thinks the next two games are crucial for the Greens to win a ticket to Brazil.
“The next two games, against Benin and Rwanda, will be crucial to get the last lap. We must come back with two good results to keep our chances. As for me, I will give the best of myself during my first call if the coach would happen to trust me' , said Agouazi.
“Frankly, I did not expect to receive this call, but I am honored to wear the colors of Algeria. I have the Algerian nationality since 2004, I have closely followed the latest releases of the national team, and now the destiny wanted me to be part of this selection, “ he added.
“I'm sure I'll get there, an enabling environment that will allow me to feel comfortable. I know Fouad Kadir (Olympique de Marseille) with whom I have a good relationship. I believe that emotion will at its peak on Tuesday, “ he said.
“A few days before I receive my call, I had a discussion with Noureddine Kourichi, who clearly displayed his desire to see me in my selection, I gave my consent without hesitation,” he said.
“I'm there and I am not aiming to dethrone any player of his position. If the coach would trust me, I would be happy, if not I will wait patiently for my chance. “
