Tomorrow Sunday May 30, 2010, the nucleus of the 1978/82 Black Stars wining squad will play host to the Media X1, SIC Life, Stanbic Bank and some selected corporate chieftains at the El Wak Sports Stadium in Accra.
Dubbed, 'the Golden Age of Football', the old Black Stars players to feature on the day include 'Dribbling Magician' Mohammed Polo, Anas 'Thunder' Seidu, and Hesse Odamitey among others.
A statement jointly signed by Polo and Anas, indicated that the soccer fiesta is being organized to ignite the football passion in Ghanaians prior to the FIFA 2010 World Cup kick-off.
It read: “In line with the Sports Ministry's aim of raising national support for the Black Stars (at the FIFA 2010 World Cup), we are pleased to organize this special event purposefully to inspire our people, ignite the passion in us, and encourage full support for the Black Stars, as they embark on this epoch-making journey to South Africa 2010.
“Being a major event that is seeking to galvanize support for the Black Stars, it is expected to attract the full collaboration of the various stakeholders and government bodies.”
The statement urged all those who have missed the sublime skills of Mohammed Polo, and other football greats of the 1970s and 80s to troop to the El Wak Stadium for the event.
