Accra, Dec. 29, GNA - National chess Master, Peter Anane Nsiah will battle the national champion, Francis Anquandah for the Patron's Cup in an Open Chess Championship at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra on Saturday, January 2.
The one-day battle of chess greats is open to all chess players throughout the country.
Mr Eddie Thompson, Secretary of the Ghana Chess Association who announced this in Accra on Tuesday, said a stiff opposition and keen competition is expected from a wide range of chess enthusiasts.
He said the competition would be played in two divisions over a six-round Swiss System of 90 minutes per game.
Mr Thompson said balloting for the competition would commence at 0830 hours, which has a giant trophy at stake donated by the Patrons, with the competition starting at 0930 hours.
