Ghana international Moussa Narry has spoken of his faint hopes of playing at next year's Fifa World Cup in South Africa and on his bit-part role for current French Ligue 1 leaders Auxerre in an interview with Goal.com
Q: Moussa Narry, Auxerre is leading the league. You have 7 wins in a row. How do you explain this?
MN: Even if only a few analysts believed in us at the beginning of this season: I have always thougth that we could vie for the upper part of the table, the European places. We are concentrating from game to game.
Q: Have you had a second look at your objectives after this winning streak?
M.N: Our primary objective is to escape relegation. But within the group, we feel that we can vie for an European spot. We are not setting any limits.
Q: How do you judge your personal beginning of the season.
M.N: I am playing a little less this season. But I am not worried. The team is doing well and I had some very good games last season. Everything turns rapidly in football.
Q: What do you think about Benoît Pedretti's performances and the rise of Delvin N'Dinga?
M.N: Benoit is a leader on the pitch as well as off the pitch, that's clear. He is currently on his peak. His presence is giving us safety since he knows his responsibilities. I am also very happy for N'Dinga. He scored his 1st goa.The competition is healthy and the frame of mind is excellent.
Q: Jelen's return has also been significant
M.N: His return did us well. We know that we can score at any moment as soon as he is on the pitch. And that changes everything in terms of confidence.
Q: You have qualified for the World Cup. What are your objectives?
M.N: The World Cup is a big event.... I personally hope to participate at this tournament and then have the most beautiful/succesful tournament as possible. To get past the first round is the promary objective.
Q: Ghana has one of the best players in the world in Essien...
M.N: He is a very great player. You always learn when beside him.
Q: Apart from Ghana, is there another African country that could do well?
M.N: Currently, Ivory Coast is to me the best team on the continent. They have great players in all departments and Drogba alone can make a difference.
