Wa, Nov. 11, GNA - The Upper West Regional Brach of Zoomlion has embarked on a mass mosquito spraying exercise aimed at preventing the breeding of mosquitoes and to reduce their population in the region significantly.
The exercise was carried out in all the nine districts in the region and involved the use of an environmentally friendly insecticide.
Mr. Emmanuel Volsuuri, the Acting Regional Operations Supervisor of Zoomlion, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that the exercise was carried out on a number of stagnant water bodies, ponds, edges of streams, dams, bushy surroundings as well as public toilet facilities.
Mr. Volsuuri said one of the effective ways of controlling mosquito population was to target the larvae and gave the assurance that the exercise would be carried out regularly.
He appealed to the public to bring to the notice of the company any information about potential mosquito breeding areas that had not yet been attended to for immediate response.
Mr Volsuuri said with the support of everybody in the region the company's vision of making the region a clean and mosquito free one would be realized in the near future.
