King Faisal Chief Executive Vincent Sowah-Odotei has questioned the professional competence of the management of Hearts of Oak following its decision to withdraw from next seasons Orange Caf Champions League.
The Ghanaian League champions pulled the plugs to participate next year on financial grounds and poor form.
Fans of the club have expressed dismay at the club's decision and have threatened to boycott the club's away league matches if the decision is not reversed.
Sowah-Odotei, former CEO of Hearts of Oak, claims the management have provided a stock excuse for their withdrawal.
"It is a shame that a big club like will pull out of the most prestigious tournament on the African continent and that for me is very shocking," he said
"Hearts is one of the biggest clubs on the African continent and would have been amazing to see them participate for the sake of their pedigree and stature.
"But it is high time people understood that the club need new a direction to survive in these challenging times." he added.
Hearts have looked out of sort on the continent since winning the maiden edition of the Caf Confederation Cup in 2004.
The club currently lie bottom of the Glo Premier League table after four rounds of matches.
