Laatekwei and his Manager, Kafui Adaletey Former National Welterweight Champion, Laatekwei Hammond, has assured Ghanaians that he will knockdown his opponent Prince Aaron, in an International Boxing Organisation (IBO) Welterweight title bout scheduled for June 27, 2009 at Broadwater Farm Community Center, Harrington, London, UK.
“On 27th (June), I will be the referee and judge of that fight because I will decide how the fight goes. I will beat Prince Aaron to pulp, and when I feel like it, I will knock him down,” the boxer told DAILY GUIDE SPORTS in an interview.
“This (fight) is a big opportunity, since it will give me the chance to be a world champion; so I will not let it slip by. Prince Aaron cannot stand in my way,” he emphasized, calling on his fans to back him in his quest to take the world by storm.
“I want my fans to know that I will not let them down; I want them to know that I am ready to take the world by storm, and that I will certainly make them proud.”
Hammond's manager, Judy Kafui Adaletey, who seemed rather young, intimated that she was confident that her boxer would bring home the title.
“We have provided him with everything he needs to step up preparations for this fight; and I am very confident that he will knock down Prince Aaron of Manchester on the D-day,” she averred.
“All he needs now is the support and prayers of fans,” Ms Adaletey added.
Laatekwei Hammond has held various titles including National and West Africa Lightweight and Super Lightweight belts. He had to vacate his last title (National and West Africa Welterweight belt) because no opponent was coming forth to challenge him for the title.
On the day he fights Prince Aaron at Broadwater Farm Community Center in London, another Ghanaian, Alfred Tetteh, will also be on the bill to fight Ricky Owen for the IBO Featherweight title at the same venue.
