Ghana had to settle for silver after losing 2-0 to DR Congo in the finals of the inaugural African Nations Championship in Abidjan on Sunday.
The lively final at the 35,000-seat Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium - a repeat of the Group B game which Ghana easily won 3-0 - saw the Leopards settle the match with goals from Dioko Kaluyituka and Bedi Mbenza.
Everything seem to go against Ghana, who having outclassed DR Congo eight days ago had a goal disallowed in the first half for an offside.
Kaluyitula gave the Congolese the lead after 46 minutes when his header slipped past Ghanaian goalkeeper Philemon Maccarthy.
Mbenza got the second goal 15 minutes from time when he angled a shot to the far post from inside the box.
The African Nations Championship tournament caters for local-based stars only.
Ghana line up:
Philemon MacCarthy, Samuel Inkoom, Harrison Afful, Ofosu Appiah, Osei Bonsu, Daniel Yeboah, Edmund Owusu-Ansah, Jordan Opoku/Stephen Manu, Yaw Antwi/Francis Coffie, Rahim Ayew, Charles Taylor/Kwadwo Poku
