Stephen Appiah is hopeful of a positive result against Libya when Ghana plays away in the penultimate 2010 African Nations Cup and World Cup qualifier in Tripoli.

Monday's meeting would be the first for Appiah as a squad player since leading Ghana to glory in a four-nation tournament in November 2007 and he is looking forward to meeting up with teammates when the Black Stars gather in Tripoli.

The inspirational Ghana captain was included in the side after recovering from an injury that has kept him out since last year and Friday's game would be his first in the 2010 African Nations Cup and World Cup qualifying campaign.

“I can't wait to be with all the other guys again including the new ones who have been chosen this time and I am confident we can overcome Libya and progress as all Ghanaians hope we will,” he said.

Stephen Appiah remains delighted to be back in the national team after ten months out and says the call up is a major boost following his recovery from injury having been training with Brescia in Italy after falling out with club side Fenerbahce.

“It's good to be back playing football but to be included in the squad is something special and I am very happy about it,” he said on his personal website.

“I have been out of competitive football for a long time but I have been training and working hard since I was given the all clear by my doctors so if Mr. Rajevac decides to field me against Libya, I will be ready to serve my beloved Ghana,” he added.
