Referees attend refresher course

A three-day refresher course organised by the Central Region Referees Association of Ghana opened at Cape Coast on Saturday.

The course which was attended by over 100 referees drawn from all the District of the Region is designed to educate the participants on the rules of the game including flagging techniques, offside rules, fouls and misconduct laws.

Dr Joseph Ogah, Head of Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation of the University of Cape Coast who opened the Course, urged referees to ensure they conduct good officiating by applying the rules to make spectators enjoy the sport without any misgivings.

He stated that bad officiating affects behaviour of spectators and therefore advised the referees to be bold, courageous and fair and interpret the laws of the game without fear or favour.

Mr Mathew Arthur Dadzie, Central Regional Chairman of Referees Association advised the participants not to allow Clubs to induce them to engage in bias officiating.

He advised them to be conversant with the rules and regulations governing the sport of soccer to enable them perform better during matches.

Mr Joseph Wellington, CAF/FIFA Instructor took the participants through the rules of the game.
