Achimota Golf Club will host 140 amateur golfers for the fifth edition of the Head of State Invitational Golf Tournament on Saturday, 21 November 2026.
The tournament, which brings together golfers, corporate executives, policymakers, investors and members of the diplomatic community, is expected to attract international participants from Nigeria, Burundi and Kenya.
Organisers officially launched the competition at a media event last Wednesday, outlining preparations and expectations for what has become an important fixture on Ghana's golfing calendar.
This year's tournament will be held under the theme: "Driving National Growth Through Leadership, Partnership and Golf."
President John Dramani Mahama will serve as Special Guest of Honour and perform the ceremonial tee-off, marking the second time he has officially opened the competition.
Michael Aggrey, Ghanaian General Secretary of the African Golf Confederation, former President of the Ghana Golf Association and a member of the Achimota Golf Club Board of Trustees, expressed satisfaction with the tournament's continued growth.
He said the competition had attracted increasing interest and participation over the years, adding that golf was a sport that more people, including the President, should embrace.
Aggrey also expressed hope that the fifth edition would deliver a memorable experience, with the best golfer emerging victorious.
First National Bank will serve as the headline sponsor for the second consecutive year, alongside a host of other corporate partners.
The supporting sponsors include BOST Energies, the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), The Luckiest, Aphro, TGTS Africa, JD's Fruit Juice, The Palms of Eagles Hotel, Samsung, Myla Homes, Coca-Cola, Guinness, Sun Lodge Hotel, Danny List Foundation, La Villa Aphro, Gevans Natural Mineral Water, Amber Coc, Nguvu Mining Ltd and Panosia.
Representatives of the supporting companies also expressed their expectations for the competition and pledged their support towards a successful event.
Beyond the sporting contest, the tournament is designed to provide a platform for networking, business engagements and cross-border partnerships among industry leaders, investors, policymakers and members of the diplomatic community.
Lead Tournament Manager Francis Andoh described the competition as both a prestigious golfing event and an opportunity for participants to interact with the President.
He said the tournament would also create valuable networking opportunities for people within the golfing fraternity, particularly with the participation of international golfers.
Meanwhile, Media Coordinator Phil John Quartey expressed appreciation to the sponsors and media organisations for their contributions towards promoting the fifth edition of the competition.
