Ghanaian champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies began their 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League campaign in impressive fashion with a commanding 5-1 victory over Mali’s USFAS Bamako on Monday.
The WAFU B champions recovered from an early setback to secure all three points and move to the top of Group B.
USFAS Bamako made a bright start and took the lead in the 12th minute when Oumou Kone produced a delicate finish over Ampem Darkoa goalkeeper Rose Teye Baah.
However, the Ghanaian side responded strongly, scoring twice before the break to turn the game around.
Angelina Yeboah restored parity with a close-range finish after connecting with Nancy Amon’s delivery across the face of goal.
Patricia Agyei then completed the turnaround with a superb finish to put Charles Anokye Frimpong’s side 2-1 ahead.
Ampem Darkoa threatened to extend their advantage before the interval, with both Amon and Agyei coming close to finding the net again.
The Ghanaian champions continued to press after the restart, although a goal from Amon was ruled out for offside following a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review.
USFAS Bamako also had an effort disallowed after the officials spotted a handball in the build-up.
Ampem Darkoa eventually extended their lead when Yeboah scored her second goal of the afternoon, finishing off a well-weighted through ball from Beline Nyarko.
Nyarko then got on the scoresheet herself to make it 4-1 before Amon capped an impressive team performance with a solo effort to complete the 5-1 victory.
The emphatic result puts Ampem Darkoa Ladies at the summit of Group B and gives them a strong start to their quest for continental glory.
They will next face Uganda's Kawempe Muslim Girls as they look to maintain their winning momentum in the competition.
