CAF confirms 2026/27 Champions League and Confederation Cup group stage draw date

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that the group stage draws for the 2026/27 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup will take place in Cairo, Egypt, on Wednesday, 28 October 2026.

The draws will be held at the headquarters of the Egypt Football Association (EFA), with the Confederation Cup proceedings scheduled to begin at 11:00 GMT before the Champions League draw follows at 12:00 GMT.

The two ceremonies will determine the group stage opponents for the 16 qualified clubs in each competition as they prepare for the next phase of their campaigns for continental honours.

CAF's two premier club competitions are set to enter the group stage in November, with the participating teams divided into four groups of four in each tournament.

The draws will be closely watched by clubs and supporters across the continent as teams discover the opponents they must overcome to progress towards the knockout stages and ultimately compete for the respective titles.

The Champions League remains Africa's leading club competition, bringing together domestic league champions and other qualifying sides from across the continent, while the Confederation Cup provides another route for clubs to pursue continental success.

Both competitions are expected to feature clubs from several African football nations, with the group stage offering a test of consistency, squad depth and tactical preparation as teams balance domestic commitments with continental fixtures.

The draw will also give coaches and technical teams a clearer picture of their schedules and the challenges ahead, allowing them to begin preparations for the opening round of group stage matches.

CAF has confirmed that the ceremonies will be broadcast live across its official digital platforms, including CAF TV on YouTube, enabling supporters to follow the proceedings as the groups take shape.

With the group stage scheduled to begin in November, Wednesday's draws will mark an important milestone in the 2026/27 African club football season, setting the course for the race to crown the continent's next Champions League and Confederation Cup winners.
