Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director Ibrahim Sannie Daara has urged the football authorities to prioritise long-term development in their search for a new Black Stars head coach.
Ghana are without a permanent head coach following the departure of Carlos Queiroz after the team's disappointing start to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The Black Stars lost their opening two matches against Ivory Coast and The Gambia, leaving them bottom of Group C without a point.
With the search committee, chaired by Fred Pappoe, yet to appoint a substantive successor to Queiroz, Sannie Daara believes Ghana need a coach who can build a strong foundation for the future.
“At this moment, the Black Stars need a coach who will build for the future,” he told Asempa FM.
The Senior CAF Media Officer also called on the GFA and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation to consider the financial implications of appointing a top-level coach.
“We must also look at our budget if we want to go out for a top-class coach, but building for the future is what we will need now,” he added.
Meanwhile, the search committee has appointed an interim technical team to oversee Ghana's upcoming double-header against Somalia in the third and fourth rounds of the AFCON qualifiers next month.
Kim Lars Björkegren will lead the team as interim head coach, with Ibrahim Tanko and Godwin Attram serving as his assistants. Former Black Stars goalkeeper Fatawu Dauda has been named goalkeepers' coach.
Ghana will be looking to revive their qualifying campaign against Somalia as they seek to return to the continental tournament after missing the previous edition in Morocco.
