Black Starlets head coach Kassim Ocansey says Ghana must improve despite securing a 3-1 victory over Benin at the ongoing WAFU B U17 Championship.
Ghana recorded their second consecutive win in the competition with an impressive performance against Benin, strengthening their hopes of progressing to the next stage.
However, Ocansey admitted his side lost concentration after taking a 2-0 lead, allowing Benin to score and make the contest more difficult.
“It means we have done a great job and we are satisfied. We lost concentration after we took the 2-0 lead and allowed Benin to come into the game and they got their goal,” he said.
“But it was good we came back stronger in the second half to finish the game with the third goal.”
The coach also praised his players for their improved finishing; goalscoring had been a major focus in training ahead of the encounter.
Ghana created several opportunities against Benin, and Ocansey believes his team could have scored more than three goals, although he was pleased with the result.
“We could have scored more than three, but Alhamdulillah we are okay. We worked on goalscoring at training, and we have scored three today so we are okay,” he added.
“If your team creates chances and they end up scoring three, it's okay, but there is more room for improvement.”
The victory marks another encouraging step for the Black Starlets as they continue their campaign at the WAFU B U17 Championship.
Ocansey and his technical team will now look to build on the successive victories while addressing the lapses in concentration and improving the team's attacking efficiency ahead of their remaining matches.
