Ghana’s Black Queens have cruised into the third round of the qualifiers for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games after completing a 10-0 aggregate victory over Mauritius.
Head coach Kim Lars Björkegren’s side followed up their 3-0 away win in the first leg with a dominant 7-0 victory at the Essipong Stadium on Tuesday.
Despite holding a comfortable advantage from the first meeting, Ghana named a strong starting line-up and continued their attacking display to secure an emphatic victory.
The Black Queens dominated the first half, pinning Mauritius back and creating sustained pressure on their opponents’ defence.
Evelyn Badu, Portia Boakye and Ajegipina Zakaria scored to give Ghana a commanding 3-0 lead at the break.
The hosts maintained their intensity after the restart, with their substitutes making a significant impact in the closing stages.
Benedicte Simon scored in the 73rd minute shortly after coming on, before Jennifer Cudjoe added a fifth goal in the 87th minute.
Nancy Amoh and Mukarama Abdulai then struck late to complete the rout and seal Ghana’s progression.
The Black Queens will face Zambia in the third round in February 2027 after the southern African side eliminated Uganda.
Ghana are seeking to qualify for the Olympic Games women’s football tournament for the first time, having failed to reach the finals since the competition was introduced at the 1996 Atlanta Games.
