The Majority Caucus on Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee has accused Bosome Freho MP Nana Asafo-Adjei Ayeh of attempting to influence Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa to allow New Patriotic Party (NPP) Second Vice-Chairman Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, to retain a service passport.
The allegation was made by Salaga South MP Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah during a media briefing on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
According to her, Mr Asafo-Adjei Ayeh and Nana B allegedly approached the minister to seek an exception for the NPP official, whose service passport bears the number SS-003454.
Hajia Ibrahimah said Mr Ablakwa rejected the request because Nana B’s previous positions as NPP National Youth Organiser and Board Chairman of the National Food Buffer Stock Company did not make him eligible for a service passport.
The Majority Caucus argued that the alleged attempt to secure an exception raised concerns about the use of parliamentary oversight, particularly amid what it described as persistent personal attacks by the Bosome Freho MP against the Foreign Affairs Minister.
“Friends from the media, we all seek favours from people, but we seek reasonable favours. We seek favours within the law. There is the legal saying that he that comes with equity must come with clean hands,” Hajia Ibrahimah said.
The caucus said the matter arose following a directive by the Mahama administration requiring former officeholders to surrender their diplomatic and service passports.
The allegations have emerged amid an ongoing disagreement between the Majority and Minority caucuses over the Foreign Affairs Ministry’s handling of the evacuation of Ghanaians from South Africa.
Mr Asafo-Adjei Ayeh has questioned the reported GH¢49.72 million expenditure on the evacuation, pointing to alleged discrepancies in documents supplied by the ministry in response to his request under the Right to Information (RTI) law.
