Samira Mensah has begun a new chapter in her career as a sports administrator after moving from her role as General Manager of the Ghana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) to become President of the Jump Rope and Skipping Federation Ghana (GJRSF).
Mensah is part of a new generation of female sports administrators contributing to the development and administration of sport in Ghana, with her new role expected to focus on expanding jump rope and skipping across communities and educational institutions.
The GJRSF is preparing to begin an outreach programme that will involve the formation of clubs and the registration of individual participants, as the federation seeks to establish a broader grassroots structure for the sport.
Reflecting on her time with Ghana Rugby, Mensah described her tenure as a meaningful chapter in her professional journey.
"Serving Ghana Rugby was a meaningful chapter in my professional journey. I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the administration, development and growth of Rugby in Ghana, and for the relationships, experiences, education and entertainment."
Mensah said her move to the GJRSF represents a new phase in her career, while maintaining the same commitment to sports development.
"This transition marks a new phase in my journey as a sport development professional with a broader focus on building sport systems, developing athletes and programmes, strengthening partnerships, and creating opportunities for young people through sport," she said.
She added that her commitment to the development of Ghanaian sport remains unchanged despite the change in discipline.
"My commitment to contributing to the growth of Ghanaian sport remains unchanged. The sport may change, but the purpose remains the same: developing people, strengthening systems and creating pathways through sport. One chapter closes. Another begins. The work continues."
Mensah also acknowledged the influence of Ghana Rugby president Rafatu Inusah and African Rugby president Herbert Mensah, whom she credited for their inspiration during her time in rugby administration.
Her work in sports has extended beyond rugby. She has been involved in organising table tennis events through RightSet and is also among the organisers behind an upcoming breast cancer awareness and fitness health walk scheduled to take place in Kasoa on 17 October 2026.
Her move into jump rope and skipping administration adds another dimension to her growing involvement in grassroots sports development, with the GJRSF now preparing to take the sport into schools and communities and create more opportunities for young people to participate.
