Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams has summoned the leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for a crisis meeting following the Black Stars’ poor start to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The meeting is scheduled to take place on Friday as Ghana seeks to address concerns surrounding the national team and the wider state of football in the country.
The Black Stars are bottom of Group C after losing both of their opening matches and have yet to earn a point.
Ghana began their qualifying campaign with a 2-0 defeat by Ivory Coast before suffering another setback against The Gambia.
The Black Stars surrendered a two-goal lead to lose 4-2 to The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium, leaving their hopes of qualifying for the tournament under significant pressure.
The poor start was followed by the departure of coach Carlos Queiroz, who mutually agreed to part ways with the GFA on Thursday, 1 October.
Adams, who is also the Member of Parliament for Buem, has now called the GFA leadership to a meeting to discuss the situation.
The talks are expected to focus on possible long-term measures to address the challenges facing Ghanaian football, as well as the future direction of the Black Stars.
Ghana must now recover quickly if they are to qualify for the 2027 AFCON, which will be hosted jointly by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
The Black Stars are scheduled to return to qualifying action in October when they face Somalia in a double-header, with both matches set to be played at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Ghana are seeking a return to the continental tournament after missing the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
